We are the "cemetery sisters", Jane and Alice, retired teachers, who for many years have followed the tradition of our grandmothers and our great uncle, visiting the area cemeteries where several generations of our family have been laid to rest. As we go about tidying up the plots and planting flowers, we always reminisce about relatives we have known and wonder about those who lived before us, recalling stories that we were told. Over the years, we have become familiar with family names on neighboring stones and have often wondered what their stories were. On occasion, we have noticed plots in need of care and have taken it upon ourselves to spruce them up, understanding that various circumstances sometimes prevent loved ones from doing so themselves. We know that they would want these grave sites to receive the honor, reverence, and care that they deserve. Finding much satisfaction in our work, we had always said that, when we retired, we would like to offer this service to others.  Now that we have the time, let us provide the same level of attentive care and respect for the final resting place of your loved ones, as we do for our own.

Care Plans

We can make a one-time visit or provide a scheduled care plan or customized services to meet your particular wishes. Annual, biannual, seasonal, and special occasion plans are available, with discounts for more than one grave site within the same cemetery. For family members who may not have had the opportunity to visit the cemetery in advance of interment, we will ensure that the area around the burial site is well-groomed before the service.

Before-and-after photos will be provided for each visit, and we would be happy to read a few words or even provide music of your choosing.

Flowers, Plants, and Arrangements

We will select flowers, plants, arrangements, or decorations according to your wishes, suitability to site conditions and the season, and the cemetery's guidelines. In our experience, planted annuals, such as geraniums, marigolds, dusty miller, ageratum, and wax begonias, do well in most locations. Fall choices include chrysanthemums, asters, or flowering kale.

Other planting options include perennials, such as iris, lilies, and hosta, and bulbs for spring flowers, such as daffodils and tulips.

We will place fresh cut or artificial flower arrangements, where permitted by the cemetery's guidelines.

In late fall, holiday greens or wreaths are available for placement, if allowed by the cemetery.

We would be happy to use your existing urn or container, or we can assist you in selecting a planter that will meet cemetery guidelines.

Monument & Stone Cleaning

With our careful, detail-oriented cleaning process, Forget-me-not Grave Site Care has had amazing results in renewing grave stones that have been marred by air pollutants and various organisms, such as lichens. In many cases, the names and engravings have been nearly obliterated.

We use non-toxic, biodegradable D/2 Biologic Solution, which contains no salts, acids, or chlorine that could damage stones. We are generally able to remove 90% of stains and detritus in the initial cleaning, and D/2 continues to work in the weeks following, as the subsurface biological stains release.

Our customers have been very pleased with the results. We find restoring the beauty of these stones to be very special and gratifying work.

Basic Care - $50, plus cost of requested materials

Clean-up of site

Special Occasion Visit - $25, plus cost of requested materials

For Basic Plan clients, an additional visit on a special occasion of your choice, such as birthday or anniversary, Mother's or Father's Day, to ensure the site is tidy and to place flowers, if requested.

Biannual - $70, plus cost of requested materials

Two visits per year in late spring and fall

Seasonal - $120, plus cost of requested materials

Four visits per year: late spring, mid-summer, early and late fall

Customized Plans, including multiple plots in the same cemetery -

Stone Cleaning -
Rates are based on the size, design, and condition of the stone. Free quotes will be provided upon inspection of the site. The following are typical costs:

24"x 36" - starting at $50

36"x 38" - starting at $75

Flat in-ground markers - starting at $25 (discount if we also clean a headstone)

Edging of markers with weed barrier and stone dust - starting at $25

Terms -

All materials must be paid in advance. Service fees will be due after completion of work.

Mileage will be charged outside our usual service area (25 mile radius of Augusta).

We will do our best to locate cemeteries and grave sites based on information from the client. In the event the exact location is unclear, there will be a $10 per hour locating charge.
